Dynamically Setting File Name in FileAppender

I am using FileAppender and want to
dynamically set the path and name of the logging file
according the windows environment variables.

So can you tell me whether it can be solved by
the configuration file, or, must i configurate it programmatically?
(You know that i have made a lot of settings in the config file,
and i won't be happy to embed all of them in my code)
