Summary: add non-POST method support to the SOAP/XML-RPC sampler
           Product: JMeter
           Version: Nightly (Please specify date)
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P3
         Component: Main
        AssignedTo: jmeter-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: amb@mit.edu

The request: add an HTTP method selector to the SOAP/XML-RPC sampler such that
arbitrary blobs of XML can be sent along with any HTTP request. (Currently it
just uses a hardcoded POST call.)

The rationale: many newly-developed web services I find myself implementing
tests against take XML input to non-POST calls; it's possible to use the file
upload functionality in the HTTP sampler to supply this input for POST and PUT
(as of nightly build r543291), but not any other methods; generally speaking,
using the SOAP/XML-RPC sampler would also be a much cleaner way of implementing
such things.

Thanks!

It looks like the only supported protocols are currently:
GET, POST, PUT, DELETE according to:
http://www.w3.org/TR/2007/REC-soap12-part2-20070427/ (6.4.3)

Are these sufficient for your needs?

Yes, those four would be fine for my use, and (as the standard method set for
REST interfaces) are likely what's generally useful for others as well.
[Sorry about the delay in answering this. Finally took a nice long holiday!]
