Get Maximised state

I'm studying the possibilities that portlet offers using Jetspeed portal.
And I have 2 questions:

1)I'd like to know if there is a way to know if a portlet is maximised or
not, to display a different content. It seems to be easy in the IBM portal,
but not in jetspeed 1.3a3.

2)The IBM api looks to be very different as there are doView, doEdit, etc..
methods instead of getContent. But the packages comes from apache jetspeed.
Can someone explain this ?

In fact, I'm not writing any "serious" document. I'm just having a look of
what are portlets and what kind of things can be done with them. It can give
my company some ideas about newer products and screen organisations.
So sorry, I won't have anything to give you.
