transformation time

Hello,

Im using xalan1.2 and xerces1.1.3.  I am experiencing a 60 second time to
parse a 60k xml doc. That seems quite long for such a small file.  Are there
any benchmarks for comparision?  I am using the 1.2.2 jdk.  I switched to
the jdk1.3, but the transformation time went to 100 seconds. Needless to say
I switched back. 

My code is pretty straight forward:
 
processor.process(new XSLTInputSource(StringReader xml),new
XSLTInputSource(InputStream xsl),  newXSLTInputSource(OutputStream
htmlOut));

I would welcome any input on this.
