Unfortunately there is no way around that, 99% of all the other apache
mirror sites actually have the /dist/ function on their mirror website
 
This is the way it was setup when I took over the project for some reason,
and I don't have the authority to change it.

Also the link between the Universidad de los Andes and the Internet has
improved a lot.

Mirror URL correction

The mirror, http://apache.usefulcontent.org, which appears on
http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi has an incorrect hyperlink, the
textual part is "http://apache.usefulcontent.org" but the href is
"http://apache.usefulcontent.orgdist", so could someone stick a slash
between "orgdist"
