FYI, mini-CMS GSoC project accepted

Hi,

I'm glad to announce that Federico Paparoni has been accepted as
Google Summer of Code student, to work on SLING-1438, "create a
mini-CMS to demonstrate Sling".

The list of accepted students (more than 1000) is at
http://socghop.appspot.com/gsoc/program/list_projects/google/gsoc2010

Looking forward to that!
-Bertrand

Hi all,

I'm Federico Paparoni and I'm really excited to join gsoc for this Sling
project.
First of all I want to study the available documentation on this project and
starting some little "experiments" to better understand the architecture of
Sling.
Every suggestions and criticisms will be welcome for this project, also
because I would like to create something that isn't only a beatiful toy but
also functional one :)
@Peter: Thanks for the suggestion of the name. It really likes me. I know
that naming things is one of the most difficult task in computer science :)

maybe something involving david (the biblical figure) could be used for
a name of the project, as the small (mini) person used a sling back then
(although that is a cruel story.)

may I suggest to prescribe using the DOJO toolkit instead of jquery? its
data api really shines in restful client-server communications. its
large widget set means even less lines of code.

there is a hulk of dojo support already somewhere in sling contrib but
very outdated. I use json.orgs ecma module to serialize server side esp
objects in the format dojo needs.

I have created https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SLING/GSoC+2010+mini-CMS+project
as a wiki homepage for that project.

Cool - we have our first requirement ;-)

Focusing on that looks like a nice goal for this project, while
keeping in mind the educational bit.

Great. You know what'd be great? If we could use this mini-CMS to drive
sling.apache.org.
