mailing list moderation
Hi guys,
I have been doing OFBiz mailing list moderation for a while (along
with the ubiquitous David Jones), but now that you're your own top
level project, I would really like to let someone else take my place.
Also, I think it would be wise to decide on a policy for moderation as
a group. David J seems to be of the idea to not accept messages from
non-subscribers, which is fine, but at that point perhaps we could
simply let the mailing list software do the job? I guess you'd have
to ask the infrastructure team as well...

It would certainly save work to have the mailing list software send
out a certain message whenever anyone is not subscribed, and I have a
stock letter (included below) that I use just for this.
Still, I like the idea of moderating because as David W. mentioned
when we discussed this a long time ago there are good reasons for
someone not subscribed to the list to be able to post. What I usually
do now is look at the question or comment and see if it is likely to
lead to discussion or to further questions, or if it is more likely
to be a one-off sort of thing like a "please contact me [here] if you
are interested in [this]", where this is often some paid work to be
done, something non-core to the project, etc.
So, we may want to hold off on this as such messages can be important.

the email address you sent this from is not subscribed to the list.
Except for cases where someone wants a question answered off the
list, we request that people subscribe to the mailing list and keep
replies and such in public as much as possible. Moderating messages
from non-subscribed addresses also helps us pretty much eliminate
spam on the lists.

Today I'm going to solicit help from the Infrastructure guys to complete
the migration out of Incubator.
Since we are still waiting for the creation of the new mailing lists, I
think that it would be a good moment to ask for these changes by adding
a comment here:
