It is too bad that EPL is a binary-only license for the purposes of Apache, but there is no way around this.  We've had this problem before.  When we started out on Apache, we had some EPL-derived source code, which we subsequently removed in time for our first release (clean room re-implementation).

Any chance you could inherit from the Eclipse code and save some duplicate effort that way?
