Please verify the HTML generated by Jetspeed sets the width to 50% for each 
column.  In addition, the width of the content can also affect the how the
browser calculates the column width.

Please check this and add a comment to this bug.

This was reported as bug #6424.  That bug is marked as resolved.  I will 
look into this using the current CVS
