bug velocity installation

Hi,
I try to install velocity on my computer.
To do this I installed :

jdk-1_5_0_01-windows-i586-p.exe
jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28.exe
apache-ant-1.6.2-bin.zip
velocity-1.4.zip

all with default install.

If you have an idea how to resolve my pb, it would be nice.

Thx by advance.
Best regards?

Martin Follet

I would thanks all for your reply to answer me the differents way to resolve the
problem.
I remove "J2SE Development Kit 5.0 Update 1" to "j2eesdk-1_4_01-windows.exe" and
now it works fine :
compile:
[javac] Compiling 195 source files to C:\Program Files\velocity-1.4\bin\clas
ses
[javac] Note: Some input files use or override a deprecated API.
[javac] Note: Recompile with -deprecation for details.

yes, Velocity does currently not compile under java 1.5

you can either download a compiled version, or edit the build.xml file
to give arguments to javac like :

javac -source 1.4 -target 1.4

(Replying to dev).

I used to use cygwin and "patch"; now that I've switched over to Eclipse I
use Eclipse which has a subversion client (SubClipse) available and has
patch capability built in.

But you don't need to do any patching, just retrieve the whole source code
(the latest set) from svn.apache.org. Use Subversion, which is available at
http://subversion.tigris.org.

See this page for more info or ask the list for help.

Re: bug velocity installation

Posted by Philip Mark Donaghy <ph...@yahoo.com>.
I'm sorry that's not it. The source code includes
variables named 'enum' which is a keyword in jdk1.5,
try uninstalling jdk1.5 and installing jdk1.4, then
rebuild.

Re: bug velocity installation

Posted by Philip Mark Donaghy <ph...@yahoo.com>.
I think your problem is in the PATH. Program files
