This resolution (changing return values) makes it really hard for Struts 1.1
users who rely on objects returned in the Validator results map to upgrade to
Struts 1.2.

I haven't looked into the source to see if there is another way to resolve
this.. If this isn't fixed could it at least be noted in the Release Notes?
