Free CloudStack training
Dear @user folks
ShapeBlue have decided to run a CloudStack Bootcamp course in Santa Clara, to coincide with collab
It will be at the Santa Clara Convention Center on June 22/23 . Geoff will be teaching it

This course technically clashes with the planned Hack Day, but its highly unlikely that anybody wanting to come to the bootcamp would also want to (or be able to) hack on Cloudstack: our course is a course for architects and engineers who want to deploy CloudStack .
I'd like to donate 2 x free places (usually $1000 each) on the course to the community.
I'll allocate the free places on a first come, first served basis. It's unlikely that this course will be useful for highly experienced CloudStack folks, therefore please feel free to pass the offer on to anybody who you think may want to get involved with the community and will benefit from this training to kickstart their relationship wth CloudStack
However, we cannot have a situation where people take the free places and then don't turn up. Therefore I ask that people read the syllabus, check their calendars, etc before they ask for one of the places.

The Boot Camp will take a total novice through setting up a simple cloud and also delve into some of the principles and best practice etc. If you have 'some' CS experience but struggled with certain aspects you will probably find some useful take aways.

We had had a request from a colleague of Kirk's for the 2nd place, I hadn't put an official cap on number of people from any given organisation, but in the spirit of community fairness, I feel that we should distribute these free places

Hi everybody
One of the people who initially asked for one of the free seats on the Bootcamp course (Santa Clara June 22/23) has now realsied that he is actually in europe !
Net result: is that there is another free place up for grabs.

As I've said prevoiusly, its pretty likely that experiecned cloudstack folks, already working in the community, wouldn't get the most benefit. Therefore, please feel free to pass this message along to collegues, friends, etc who you think may be interested.
Technically I 've donated the places to the Apache community, but if we're able to use the spare place to help get somebody *into* the community - that's a good thing I think

ShapeBlue have decided to run a CloudStack Bootcamp course in Santa Clara, to coincide with collab It will be at the Santa Clara Convention Center on June 22/23 . Geoff will be teaching it http://www.shapeblue.com/cloudstack-bootcamp-training-course
This course technically clashes with the planned Hack Day, but its highly unlikely that anybody wanting to come to the bootcamp would also want to (or be able to) hack on Cloudstack: our course is a course for architects and engineers who want to deploy CloudStack .
I'd like to donate 2 x free places (usually $1000 each) on the course to the community.
I'll allocate the free places on a first come, first served basis. It's unlikely that this course will be useful for highly experienced CloudStack folks, therefore please feel free to pass the offer on to anybody who you think may want to get involved with the community and will benefit from this training to kickstart their relationship wth CloudStack However, we cannot have a situation where people take the free places and then don't turn up. Therefore I ask that people read the syllabus, check their calendars, etc before they ask for one of the places.

I'll wait until 5pm BST tomorrow and then give the place to the person closest to his birthday.
This is NOT open to anybody @ ShapeBlue or anybody else who knows my wife or kids :-)

I think you may need to re-think this as in your eagerness to share this with the community, you missed that fact that most of them are still in bed as it's the middle of the night on the West Coast so they cannot respond to the first come first served.

ShapeBlue have decided to run a CloudStack Bootcamp course in Santa Clara, to coincide with collab It will be at the Santa Clara Convention Center on June 22/23 . Geoff will be teaching it http://www.shapeblue.com/cloudstack-bootcamp-training-course
This course technically clashes with the planned Hack Day, but its highly unlikely that anybody wanting to come to the bootcamp would also want to (or be able to) hack on Cloudstack: our course is a course for architects and engineers who want to deploy CloudStack .
I'd like to donate 2 x free places (usually $1000 each) on the course to the community.
I'll allocate the free places on a first come, first served basis. It's unlikely that this course will be useful for highly experienced CloudStack folks, therefore please feel free to pass the offer on to anybody who you think may want to get involved with the community and will benefit from this training to kickstart their relationship wth CloudStack However, we cannot have a situation where people take the free places and then don't turn up. Therefore I ask that people read the syllabus, check their calendars, etc before they ask for one of the places.
