[XML Schema API] Obtaining elements in a substitution group

I want to obtain the element declarations in (forming) a 
substitution group given the head element declaration (and if the 
given element declaration is head of a substitution group). It is 
possible to query the schema component for all the top-level element 
declaration components and then going through the list to check if 
the {substitution group affiliation} property matches the given head 
declaration. Is there a quicker method?
