[VOTE] [Studio] Release of Apache Directory Studio 1.3.0

Hi all,

Apache Directory Studio version 1.3.0 RC2 has been released almost one month
ago and from the user input we've received, I think it's now safe to declare
this release as the 1.3.0 final version.

For your information, there won't be any new build needed for releasing this
version, we just need to update the website to declare this release as the
final one.

Here's a little recap of what's new in this version:
    * the RCP application now bundles Eclipse 3.4 dependencies
    * DSML Import/Export is now working again (with new export options)
    * a lot improvements in the LDAP Browser
          * Ability to save a configuration as an URL
          * Ability to create a new Context Entry
          * New GoTo Dialog
          * Fixed the display of values of attributes with 'Generalized
Time' syntax
          * Many more feature requests and bug fixes
    * the Apache DS Configuration Editor now reads the configuration of
Apache DS 1.5.4
    * the Apache DS plugin now bundles Apache DS 1.5.4 dependencies and runs
Apache DS instances version 1.5.3 (created with Studio 1.2.0) and version
1.5.4 (created with Studio 1.3.0).

Hi all,

This vote is now closed.

Here are the results:

   - 4 +1 votes
      - Kiran Ayyagari
      - Emmanuel Lécharny
      - Stefan Seelmann
      - Pierre-Arnaud Marcelot
      - no +/-0 vote
   - no -1 vote

Now, the question is "what should we do exactly?" as not all agreed on the
way of handling this.

My personal feeling would be to just update the website and remove the
occurrences of "RC2".
I don't think we really need to repackage the packages released for version
RC2 (which would consume more time, bandwidth, space on mirrors and svn
repos).
Other ideas?
WDYT?

Thanks,
Pierre-Arnaud

This is because we're now using the release plugin and I wanted to have the
same naming between all the plugins and the tag.

I'm not sure we need to do this. I think it's safe f we can avoid uploading
another 500 MB on Maven repositories with no change in the code base.

I totally +1 this proposal. And I don't see either why we have a date in
a tags. I would rather produce a 1.3.0-RC2 than a 1.3.0-v20081020, it's
really straightforward to know which version it is. IMHO, date in
version should be reserved for nighty build only.

I hope we can modify this for this GA release :)

I wonder about the tagging in svn and the distribution directories dist
are unzip to. E.g. untarring the RC2 download from d.a.o/studio will
untar into a directory named
ApacheDirectoryStudio-linux-x86-1.3.0.v20081020.
The svn tag is named 1.3.0.v20081020 whereas all earlier release tags
don't include the date in the release tag. If we didn't changed naming
for releases we should at least rename the svn tag and build the
downloadable distributions to extract in a directory named
ApacheDirectoryStudio-linux-x86-1.3.0 (for linux x86) - this will
probably force a new dist build with the adapted version.

Thanks
