Parts of the documentation would be improved by standardizing our terminology for installation directories. We should also document what each directory means and provide anchors to these definitions that can be linked by referencing text.

ie. BINDIR, PREFIX, SYSCONFDIR, LOGDIR, RUNTIMEDIR, etc
