VFS Commons question

It seems this would fall under VFS, but I am not sure. What I want to do
ought to be very trivial, but I am having trouble finding a way to
accomplish it. I want to be able to inspect the date/time a local file was
created, that's it. The closest I have seen is lastModified(). Is there any
facility in the commons project to accomplish this? TIA
