[jira] [Created] (NIFI-7102) More comprehensive message for error message when updating a policy

nicolas cerutti created NIFI-7102:
-------------------------------------

             Summary: More comprehensive message for error message when updating a policy
                 Key: NIFI-7102
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NIFI-7102
             Project: Apache NiFi
          Issue Type: Wish
          Components: Security
    Affects Versions: 1.9.2
            Reporter: nicolas cerutti

Hello,

I am facing the following issue :

A policy was created in a project Process Group for the "view the user interface" resource (meaning the inheritance of the parent policy has been overriden).

This policy was granted to 2 groups. The user and groups managed by the authorizations are managed by LDAP.

Since then, due to an unknown issue, the id of one of the groups is no more recognized by NiFi : {color:#00875a}_'Unable to find user group with id '43527792-a30b-3a73-aeab-60518f290c2d'_{color}

When trying to modify the policy concerned via the web UI, only the {color:#00875a}"Create a new policy"{color} is available.

When clicking it, the error message displays : {color:#00875a}"Found multiple policies for '/process-groups/dcace949-016b-1000-0000-000072d411a1' with 'read'."{color}

If I try to access the policy with the API, the following appears :

{color:#00875a}Unable to find user group with id '43527792-a30b-3a73-aeab-60518f290c2d'.{color}

This message is much more explicit via the API than with the Web UI.
Would it be possible to refine the message of the web UI to help analysis when such issue occurs ?

Regards,

Nicolas
