The docs are wrong?
They currently aren't allowed in .htaccess files. Don't know why, other
than that there isn't an overly nice way to control what people can do in
.htaccess files with any fine degree. They seem to work fine here when I
change the source to allow them to be used in .htaccess files, but I
didn't do much testing.

Hmm, I thought we had a patch implemented long ago that did this?
I'll go change the docs. I'd be in favor of adding this functionality but not
this late in the beta cycle.
