[jira] Created: (STONEHENGE-91) Select ConfigService from the UI

Select ConfigService from the UI
--------------------------------

                 Key: STONEHENGE-91
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/STONEHENGE-91
             Project: Stonehenge
          Issue Type: Wish
            Reporter: Avantika Agrawal
            Priority: Minor

Having seen the METRO and .NET Config Services interoperate, I think we could also add an option in the Advanced Configuration UI to specify the Configuration Service to be used. I think that having to go into the code to change endpoints (even for this kind of task) defeats the purpose of the Config UI.

This is on the wish list right now.

Ming,

I received an error running the build of the STONEHENGE-90 patch.

D:\StockTrader.Contrib\stocktrader\metro\trader_client\build.xml:78: D:\StockTra
der.Contrib\stocktrader\metro\trader_client\web\images not found.

Binary files (ie. Images) don't get included in the patch files, can you create a zip file with the images and any other binary file that you wish to include.

No, neither have me.
I'm working on advanced config service, and will move on to the URL setting
very soon.

So we need to make a decision on what we'd like it to be. I think providing
a page allowing user to input the address like in PHP is a good way to do
it. How do you think?

If you agree, can you update the proposal to include it first, so we can
start according to the proposal.

Hi Ming,

I haven't started working on this issue - I am trying to resolve SH-92 first. This is on the wish list for us. Have you started work on this? How is it progressing?

Hi, Avantika
I've tested this patch. Everything works fine. Well done.

Here is one more question: if the address of config service was changed from
page, is the config service used in BSL also be updated dynamically?

Hi Ming,

Sorry about that, the patch was missing some of the unversioned files.
I uploaded a new patch - perhaps you can try that one out?

> Having seen the METRO and .NET Config Services interoperate, I think we could also add an option in the Advanced Configuration UI to specify the Configuration Service to be used. I think that having to go into the code to change endpoints (even for this kind of task) defeats the purpose of the Config UI.
> This is on the wish list right now.
