SVN Server/Client

Hi 

 

I am a new user for SVN and I am trying to install this software on my
machine. 

I have read about 1.4.3 native services: "svnserve as native Windows
service".

 

Does this mean that I can install the server and the client on Windows now?

 

If it's the case, where I can find information that can help me to install
this version (Server & Client) on Windows?

 

Any help would be highly appreciated.

SVN has been installable as a server on MS Windows for a long time. The recent 
change is that 'svnserve' is now installable as a so-called 'service' on MS 
Windows. Before, you had to call the executable in a wrapper for that.

My suggestion: go and download TortoiseSVN. You can use it to create a 
repository and it contains a graphical client that integrates into Explorer. 
That way you get a working environment to play with.

Then, when you find you need access to the repository across a network, you 
can decide if you want to use svnserve, Apache or a SSH tunnel. The 
differences, setup and use of all three of them are explained in the 
documentation (see the SVN homepage).
