   This is not a fix, but a work-around. The underlying issue is either in netbeans or the JDK and we should ensure, that it gets fixed really. Forcing gtk2 as an option will quickly go away (it must be considered an implementation detail).
   
   I would add a comment about it to the config - that way in the future some one considering removing the option knows why it is there and what needs to be done to remove it.
   
   For the issue title: This is not Gnome 2.2, but Gtk 2.2. Gnome is a desktop environment build on top of it it is one of the users of the toolkit, but not the only one.
