Problem confirmed. DOMBuilder is plugged in directly rather than through our 
ResultTreeHandler layer, and thus does not have structural corrections applied 
at the SAX-stream level... nor does it coalesce adjacent text itself.

Sloppy of us. We know better. Good catch.
