Manifiest Task Documentaion not upto date?

It appears that the documentation for the manifest task does not reflect
that the file attibute is no longer used.

Noticed this when trouble shooting some old build files after upgrading to
the latest ant.

Posted by Aaron Ravenberg <ar...@benefitsxml.com>.
I understand the difference and see the appropriate notes under the <jar>
task, thanks for the explination.

Here is the build snipplet:

<target name = "manifest" depends = "init" description = "Updates the
manifest file for the ejb without rebuilding the jar">
   <jar jarfile = "${ejb.ejbjar}" update = "true">
      <manifest file = "MANIFEST.MF">
         <attribute name = "Class-Path" value = "${manifest.classpath}"/>
	</manifest>
   </jar>
</target>

org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.Manifest is the nested <manifest> of
<jar>, not the <manifest> task. The former doesn't support the file
attribute (and it may very well be that it just ignored it in 1.5.1),
the later requires the file attribute.

Do you have a build file snippet for us?

It is not? I'm pretty sure the task is going to use it.

My old builds that had the file attribute file specified failed. I remove
the attribute and they work fine with the latest build.

Using ant 1.5.3-1

Here is the stack trace:
