XML Schema documentation for metainfo.xml?

I am trying to find some information about the subject. Does anyone know if
such document exists in some form? Or the only way to figure that out is to
look at the java/python code on github?

Rather than the java/python code a better start would be existing metainfo.xml files such as - https://github.com/apache/ambari/blob/trunk/ambari-server/src/main/resources/common-services/HBASE/0.96.0.2.0/metainfo.xml
