Not able to find modern/classic compiler

Hi,

I'm starting to use ANT for the first time. I
downloaded ver 1.3 from jakarta.apache.org and wrote a
vanilla "Hello World" example.

Then I'm trying to build the example. However I'm
getting the following:

<LOG>
Buildfile: build.xml

init:

compile:
    [javac] Modern compiler is not available - using
classic compiler
    [javac] Compiling 1 source file to
/home/arung/workarea/ant/hello/build

BUILD FAILED

/home/arung/workarea/ant/hello/build.xml:24: Cannot
use classic compiler, as it is not available A common
solution is to set the environment variable JAVA_HOME
to your jdk directory.

Total time: 2 seconds
</LOG>

JAVA_HOME is initialized to the appropriate directory,
in build.xml, in ant script and in environment
variables.

What could be the problem ?

Thanks,
-Arun
