Title: How to Contribute

Gora Development Process
Gora assumes a development process encouraged by the Apache Software Foundation (ASF).
ASF is based on [meritocracy](http://www.apache.org/foundation/how-it-works.html).
We encourage open discussion and open development. Nearly everything in Gora is done over
on the [mailing lists](./mailing_lists.html) and [Jira issues](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GORA).

Simply put, gora needs you help to move forward. Like all open source projects, you can help gora in several ways:

* Bug reporting: No software is bug-free. So please report any issues that arise while using
Gora by commenting on an existing bug, or opening a new bug report. You can search,
and create new bug reports [here](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GORA).
* Feature Request: Gora should be driven further by feature requests from the community.
Reporting ideas for improvement on existing features and new features can help the
developers to re-arrange priorities for the project. Use the
  [issue tracker](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GORA) for reporting feature
requests, or mention your idea at the dev@ mailing list.
* Developing Patches: We of course welcome patches from the community.
If you find an issue you want to fix, create the issue, develop the patch
and attach the patch to the issue.
* Sharing Use Cases: You can share how you use gora in your projects. We
also encourage users to add thier use cases to our [PoweredBy](./poweredby.html) page.
* Contributing Documentation: You can also contribute to the ongoing documentation
effort of the project by editing [wiki pages](https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/GORA/Index),
improving javadocs or writing blog posts. You can also answer user questions at the [mailing lists](./mailing_lists.html).
* Spreading the word: We encourage you to share your feedback on gora with us and
with others, by tweeting, blogging, etc.
* Participating in GSoC: As a community and project, Gora has a successful record
in participating in [Google Summer of Code](https://developers.google.com/open-source/soc/).
As a community we greatly encourage students to engage in such efforts.

Gora Releases

Download the newest release of Apache Gora. See the [0.2.1-CHANGES.txt](http://apache.org/dist/gora/0.2.1/CHANGES.txt)
file for more information on the list of updates in this release.

Gora is always distributed under the [Apache License, version 2.0](http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0.html).

The link in the Mirrors column below should display a list of available mirrors with a default selection
based on your inferred location. If you do not see that page, try a different browser.

Verify Releases
It is essential that you verify the integrity of the downloaded files using the PGP or MD5 signatures.
Please read [Verifying Apache HTTP Server Releases](http://httpd.apache.org/dev/verification.html)
for more information on why you should verify our releases.

We strongly recommend you verify your downloads with both PGP and MD5.

PGP Signature
The PGP signatures can be verified using PGP or GPG. First download the
[KEYS](http://www.apache.org/dist/gora/KEYS) as well as the asc signature file
for the relevant distribution. Make sure you get these files from the
[main distribution directory](http://www.apache.org/dist/gora/), rather than from a
mirror. Then verify the signatures using the following

$ gpg --import KEYS
$ gpg --verify apache-gora-X.Y.Z-src.tar.gz.asc

The files in the most recent release are signed by Lewis John McGibbney (lewismc) C601BCA7

MD5 Signature
Alternatively, you can verify the MD5 signature on the files.
A unix program called md5 or md5sum is included in many unix distributions.

$ md5sum apache-gora-X.Y.Z-src.tar.gz.asc
... output should match the string in apache-gora-X.Y.Z.tar.gz.md5

Previous Releases
If you are looking for previous releases of Apache Gora, have a look in the
[Apache Archives](http://archive.apache.org/dist/gora/), or alternatively
for even older releases check out the [Incubator archives](http://archive.apache.org/dist/incubator/gora/).

Subscribe to the dev@ [mailing list](./mailing_lists.html) if you want to
get notified about future releases. You can check out the Gora
[Quick Start Guide](./current/quickstart.html) to get up and running in no time.

All Apache Gora releases are available under the Apache License, Version 2.0.
