Small modification to the Redirect class?
Greetings,
I am not a member of this list, so please excuse me if I am talking
absolute nonsense (and please CC me on the replies :).
I have been experimenting with Xalan and I must say that I am rather
impressed in many ways. Testing the supplied Redirect extension also
yielded good results.
However, I have a need to redirect output to an external database
system, so I had a look at the Redirect class in order to extend it to
do this for me. It seems that the makeFormatterListener() method could
be easily modified to allow the stream to point to external sources.
I wanted to inherit Redirect without copying the entire class, but
found that makeFormatterListener() was marked private. I solved this
by making makeFormatterListener() protected, and a class that extends
Redirect worked right away.
I suggest that makeFormatterListener() be made protected to allow for
reuse of the Redirect class, unless this violates a particular design
principle of the extension.
Thanks,
-Sami
