[jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-4500) Implement visibility histograms as a table feature

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-4500?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15582081#comment-15582081 ]

Michael Wall commented on ACCUMULO-4500:
----------------------------------------

I am in favor of this idea in general. I have concerns about performance though. Beside protecting this information with some permission, can we also it configurable to turn off and on? If you have it off for some period, then turn it on, only new ingest and files that get compacted would have the info. If you turn have it on, then turn it off, new data would not have it and compactions would not write it back out.
