Miscellaneous Maven questions for Apache Logging Services site rework

Apache Logging Services is in the process of migrating to Maven for  
web site generation and maintenance.  Had a couple of questions that  
didn't seem obvious from searching the archives.

1. Are there any established best practices for links to the ASF  
Thanks and Sponsorship pages that are required for ASF web content?   
See discussion on board@apache.org on 2007-05-26 if you have access  
to that archive?  http://maven.apache.org doesn't appear to have  
them.  I was thinking about adding an ASF menu item to the navigation  
panel and have Thanks and Support appear as child elements.

2. Are there any established best practices for embedding ApacheCON  
ads in Maven generated sites?  http://maven.apache.org has an iframe  
which loads http://www.apache.org/ads/bannerbar.html on the right  
(defined in src/site/xml/index.xml.vm).  I think I'd like basically  
the same iframe but next to the built by maven in the navigation panel.

3. Deploying generated web site to SVN for staging to apache.org:

The Incubator Podling Web Site Guide (http://incubator.apache.org/ 
guides/sites.html) says:

The SVN publishing requirement is apparently http://www.apache.org/ 
dev/project-site.html

The Maven site does not appear to be published from SVN but to be  
directly site-deployed to people.apache.org.  Is the publish through  
SVN still a requirement or do the www.apache.org docs not reflect  
current practice?  Is there support in distribution management for  
publishing the generated site to SVN (perhaps using an scm:svn: URL)?
