   Closing this since just passing `--no-default-features` to `cargo test` does not work.
   
   I now actually think that we probably shouldn't do this since the CI already takes long enough and rather just improve the API so that stuff that only works when a certain feature is enabled is actually only available when that feature is enabled ... i.e. turning runtime errors into compile time errors which would prevent errors like #7172 from going by unnoticed.
   
   However I currently don't have time to work on this.
