[~eepstein@prajna.com] - Jackrabbit trunk does not use the old client anymore.

EDIT: that said, what's relevant is that the latest stable release (2.14.*) supports the new client, but still contains the old code (which is deprecated in 2.14 and will disappear in 2.16). It's a compile time dependency for 2.14, but you can probably run it without the http client 3.* jars if you only use the new classes in Jackrabbit Webdav,
