Glen Mazza commented on CXF-3046:
---------------------------------

Robert, over the past 6 days you've been overburdening JIRA with 15 ticket items giving suggestions over the documentation. But the documentation is so huge, at this rate you can have easily 500 JIRA tickets--and that's just you. Everyone else can come up with their 500 JIRA tickets for their own opinions. JIRA is not a scalable solution for what you're trying to do. It would be nice if you could reduce the number of future JIRA tickets by adding to the ones that you presently have (just add a comment), and coming up with new ones only when they are on totally different topics from your other suggestions.

Robert Liguori edited comment on CXF-3046 at 10/7/10 8:51 AM:
--------------------------------------------------------------

Okay. I will not open up any new documentation issues for Apache CXF, as requested. I will just append my comments for broken links, incomplete text and outdated information to existing JIRA issues.

As a general comment though:

Could someone on the Apache CXF team do the following:

(1) Resolve broken links on the Apache CXF website. This can be easily done in an hour or two by first using a tool like Link Checker to find the links that don't resolve: http://linkchecker.sourceforge.net/.

(2) Scrub the online web pages for 'works in progress', and resolve where possible. Such an abundance of hanging files (for such a duration), gives the impression that the pages aren't being maintained effectively.

(3) Technically scrub the pages for alignment purposes of changes in the last few years. It appears as if CXF has picked up and refined several new features.... the documentation should reflect this.

Thank you.

Daniel Kulp resolved CXF-3046.
------------------------------

       Resolution: Fixed
    Fix Version/s: Invalid
         Assignee: Daniel Kulp

I've made the changes mentioned above that really are applicable. I didn't do the SCA changes as nothing CXF does at this point really involves SCA. The Jabber thing I just made link to the Camel/CXF docs to explain all of those.

I also didn't put the fixed/csv change in as no-one has ever done anything with that for CXF.

That all said, I would HIGHLY encourage you to submit and ICLA ( http://apache.org/licenses/icla.txt ) which would allow us to grant you edit access to this site. Thus, any technical details that you find missing or inadequate, you could just fix. Probably would take less time than filing a JIRA anyway. :-)

> Suggestion: Make the following refinements to CXF's home page: http://cxf.apache.org/. I believe they are all accurate, but they need to be verified.
