At this time (1.8-dev) there isn't a problem.  You do get an annoying message, but that I think will be resolved in the 1.0 version of Maven.  We don't want to add more dependencis to the eclipse plugin as some aren't bundled etc.   A longer term solution would be to have plugins able to register themselves with the eclipse plugin that they have a section to contribute to the classpath.
