Where does XSL source go?

Hello all,

Could somebody help me figure out where to put my XSL stylsheets in a new M2 
project? I'm developing an XSLT stylesheet that generates XSL stylesheets and 
I'm thinking it should go under src/main/xsl but then I don't want to fuss 
with compiling it because that would be messy in M2 so I'm thinking it should 
go under resources right?
