[jira] Created: (HADOOP-3625) Add an ip address mask to rack name
java plugin
Add an ip address mask to rack name java plugin
-----------------------------------------------
Key: HADOOP-3625
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-3625
Project: Hadoop Core
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: util
Reporter: Owen O'Malley
Assignee: Owen O'Malley
We should have a plugin that implements DNSToSwitchMapping with a configurable netmask that defines the rack. Therefore, if you use the high 26 bits to determine your switch, you could configure it with "ff.ff.ff.c0"

Steve Loughran commented on HADOOP-3625:
----------------------------------------
you can use {{netmask.length()==0) over "".equals(netmask); I think it is ever so slightly faster.
