If you're planning to use Batik on a headless enviroment then you may hit
problems with Batik requiring an X server to run properly. JDK 1.4 is
hopefully going to fix the problem

you could try Batik, a free SVG viewer (and more) developped in Java,
not especially for Linux.

I used it, but it looks like IE6 does not need it anymore.
My system is even displaying "cocoon.svg" on Windows Explorer with a
IE icon and IE opens when I double click on it... and yes I can see
the logo!
