RDP - Can't login : "You have been disconnected"

Hey,

I'm a fan of Guac' and recently built it on my RPi4. However, unlike my
virtual machine, on Ubuntu 20.04, it is on Raspbian Buster. I had no issue
on the Ubuntu VM but it wasn't convenient to have a VM on the computer I
need to remote into...if it reboots, the VM couldn't auto-start.

However, the issue is on the Raspberry Pi. When I try to connect to my
Windows 10 machine on Guacamole hosted there, it connects and immediately
disconnects with "You have been disconnected" on a black background.
Nothing happens on the Windows machine, but based on eventvwr, the session
has been created and destroyed without errors, the login worked.

Checking syslog, catalina logs, no error spotted - everything seems to work
as normal. I do some Google-fu and stumble on :

http://apache-guacamole-general-user-mailing-list.2363388.n4.nabble.com/Upgrade-from-0-9-14-to-1-1-0-RDP-now-doesn-t-connect-td8207.html

then

http://apache-guacamole-general-user-mailing-list.2363388.n4.nabble.com/Problems-to-RDP-windows-10-td7565.html

which seemed to absolutely be the same thing, but no, no luck with disabling
WDDM driver (and rebooting) or playing with NLA authentication. Plug, I
have no segfault or Error 114 spotted in some posts.

Windows 10 is at version 20H2.

Any ideas? How can I get an error to see what's wrong?

Thank you and have a nice day

Confirmed that after removing freerdp2 from stable packages and installing
from backports, it works :

Yep. I don't know whether Raspbian has its own backports repository, but
Debian's "buster-backports" repository has the 2.3.0 release:

https://packages.debian.org/buster-backports/freerdp2-dev

The version you're seeing above ("2.0.0~git20190204.1.2693389a") is the
same as in Debian's "buster" repository, and is a git snapshot taken
sometime between 2.0.0-rc4 and the actual 2.0.0 release:

So...should look for backports and install one from there?

What does the package manager say?

It's possible that the version of FreeRDP installed in your case is a git
snapshot, not the actual 2.0.0 release, and that you are running into
unpredictable memory behavior as a result. I'm not sure about Rasbian, but
this is the case for Debian - the package in the main buster repos is a git
snapshot, whereas the package in the backports repo is a stable release.

Also, beware that checking the filename (ideally) does not describe the
release version. The numbers within the library filename are part of the
soname, which is supposed to indicate ABI compatibility, not the release.
It currently matches the release number in FreeRDP's case, but it would
definitely be a major improvement if it didn't. There's no other way for
the system linker to know that software was built against an older version
of the ABI and should not be linked against the newer version.

Thanks for your time!

From memory (and my .bash_history), I installed the server part with the
tarball (tar.gz) from guacamole.apache.org, version 1.3.0.

As for freerdp, based on filenames under /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf, I am
on 2.0.0

What version of FreeRDP is installed and what version of guacamole-server
was built? Did you build guacamole-server from the release .tar.gz or from
git?
