Jini version 2.x has recently licensed the specifications and reference implementations as FOSS under the Apache 2.0 license. I think it would be great to have the Jini base jars in the Maven repository to support a Maven Jini Plug-in that I will be providing in the very near future. Thank you.

If the jar only contains com.sun.jini packages it has to be in that group, same for net.jini. The jars related to the sun implementation without clasess also go into com.sun.jini.
If it has a mixture of different packages tell me what jar it is and I'll think about it.

The ones that seem empty actually are used to verify other jars and do not have classes in them. They use the manifest and preferred lists to help in verifying other Jini information. So, they look empty, but they are actually supposed to be like that. Thanks.

[jira] Reopened: (MAVENUPLOAD-534) Jini 2.1 Beta 2 Jars

Posted by "Chris Sterling (JIRA)" <ji...@codehaus.org>.

Chris Sterling reopened MAVENUPLOAD-534:
----------------------------------------

I made a mistake when uploading the jini-starterkit and jini-start-examples bundles. It seems the zip files are not valid and I think that it was just a careless bundling process that caused it. I have now updated these bundles at the same location. Would it be possible to overwrite the existing zip files in the net.jini/zips/ directory with the zip files inside these updated bundles? Thanks. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry, Carlos. I was trying to use the maven create-upload-bundle, but did not realize that this was only if I was building the project using Maven. I have uploaded the manually created versions with the jars at the same URLs. Please let me know if there are any other issues. Thanks.

Chris Sterling commented on MAVENUPLOAD-534:
--------------------------------------------

I can see your view and I agree to some degree. This is how I propose that the bundles are loaded:

net.jini (all of these have net.jini base packages with some RI in com.sun.jini)
jini-core
jini-ext
jsk-lib
jsk-platform
jsk-resources

com.sun.jini
checkconfigurationfile
checkser
classdep
classserver
computedigest
computehttpmdcodebase
destroy
envcheck
group
jarwrapper
sun-util
tools

Does this sound alright? Thanks for all your help.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I had gotten so used to the current names for the groupId node that I missed how new uploads should be structured.

Since the main package for the starter kit is net.jini, I think that may be the most appropriate. I have uploaded the new versions in the same place. Please let me know if there are any other issues. Thanks.

[jira] Commented: (MAVENUPLOAD-534) Jini 2.1 Beta 2 Jars

Posted by "Chris Sterling (JIRA)" <ji...@codehaus.org>.

Chris Sterling commented on MAVENUPLOAD-534:
--------------------------------------------

Well, the base platform interface definitions for the Jini starter kit are in the "net.jini.*" packages. The reference implementations are in the "com.sun.jini.*" packages. Each of these packages contain both package structures inside. I believe that the base interface package names are probably the most appropriate in this case since the com.sun.jini package refers to a reference implementation? Let me know if this does not work. Thanks.

[jira] Reopened: (MAVENUPLOAD-534) Jini 2.1 Beta 2 Jars

Chris Sterling reopened MAVENUPLOAD-534:
----------------------------------------

I believe that two of the bundles were not loaded into the repository:

http://daredskin.homedns.org/jini-starterkit-2.1-beta2-bundle.jar
http://daredskin.homedns.org/jini-start-examples-2.1-beta2-bundle.jar

I think that both of these zips should go under the com.sun.jini groupId? Do you agree? Thanks.

Chris Sterling commented on MAVENUPLOAD-534:
--------------------------------------------

They are the actual starter kit which is needed by the start examples which helps launch using configuration files the Jini services. My Jini plug-in for Maven uses them to launch the services through goals and this also allows users to not have to download the starter kit separately and configure it before using Maven and the Jini plug-in.

It would be very helpful if these were uploaded. Thanks.
