Oracle has donated Java to the Eclipse foundation and is transitioning to a model where they are releasing the "Oracle JDK" intended for use by enterprise customers.

We want to switch to using the "Oracle OpenJDK" or just OpenJDK since Oracle has merged their JDK with OpenJDK. It is discussed here: [https://blogs.oracle.com/java-platform-group/oracle-jdk-releases-for-java-11-and-later]

 

Also, JDK 8 is nearing end of life and JDK 11 is the next LTS release. We need to update.
