JDBC appender error?

Hi,

when using the JDBC appender I am getting the following error in my Tomcat
log file:

log4j:ERROR Could not find value for key log4j.appender.J.layout

My jdbc appender is defined as follows:

log4j.appender.J=org.apache.log4j.jdbc.JDBCAppender
log4j.appender.J.URL=jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/crlca?autoReconnect=true
log4J.appender.J.user=user
log4J.appender.J.password=password
log4j.appender.J.driver=org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
log4j.appender.J.sql=INSERT into LOG (LogDate, Logger, Priority, Message)
VALUES ('%d', '%c', '%p', '%m')
log4J.appender.J.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout

log4j.category.com.sirius=DEBUG, J, R

Could someone point out what I did wrong. Nothing is getting written to the
database although the rolling file appender, 'R', is working fine.
