If I query a Kudu table I get this in impalad.ERROR.

String field 'impala.ScanRangePB.kudu_scan_token' contains invalid 
UTF-8 data when serializing a protocol buffer. Use the 'bytes' type if you intend to send raw bytes.

We should prevent this from happening.
