tree2 node: my own style

I am using <t:tree2>. 
  I looked at the rendered HTML, the open/close image style is hard coded, like
   
  <td width="19" height="100%" valign="top">
  <img src="/..../nav-plus.gif" height="18" width="19" ..../>HELLO FOO</td>
   
  I wish they were using CSS style class.
  Is there a way to apply my own style? such as open/close image size and alignment.
