Hi

 

Does the forum functionality in Ofbiz allow for forum membership/contact
list such as in "Google groups/Ofbiz users" and if so does it include the
ability to generate automatic emails to forum membership.

the forum is limited.
http://demo-trunk.ofbiz.apache.org:8080/ecommerce/control/main
you can see three forums.

you can follow the data as to what it takes to setup a forum.
\applications\content\data\ForumDemoData.xml
you will not that the current forums do not require login
you will have to add fields for preferences that allow if some one wants 
the email.
then an Eca to call a send emial service you create.
