The following attachment adds an install target to Makefile.in.
The diff is against latest CVS.
It also adds support for FreeBSD and (experimental = untested) support for
NetBSD.
Further more it updates runConfigure and configure.in to improved
build framework a bit more.
Last but not least it fixes lirary naming for elf platforms. See
the xerces-c bug report at
http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13992
for more information.

The changes are very intrusive but some care was taken to not break too
much. at least OS390 lib: target may be broken. Anyway please test on all
possible platforms.

It will not add any ldconfig calls as this is a problem of packaging.
