[Issue 125705] New: Very slow performance when adding or removing
numbering or bullets
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=125705
Issue ID: 125705
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Very slow performance when adding or removing
numbering or bullets
Product: Writer
Version: 4.1.1
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: CONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: ui
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: jes@martnet.com
Numbering or bullets added through the toolbar are very fast. Toggling the list
formatting off by the same button is very much slower. For a large document
with each paragraph numbered (30k paragraphs), it can take >30 minutes to
complete. During this time, OO is completely unresponsive.
The same problem affects both numbering and bullets.
I see similar results adding/removing list formatting through a style: adding
list formatting is much slower than using the toolbar. Removing the list
formatting is faster than with the toolbar list but still takes many minutes.
Granted, this is an unusual situation but it seems more serious to me that an
apparently simple operation can "lock" the application for such a long time.
If anyone is interested in this, I can provide a sample document or more
specific instructions.
