[users@httpd] Apache always dies.

The apache service always dies..

helpdesk:~ # rcapache status
Checking for httpd:
dead
helpdesk:~ # rcapache start
Starting httpd [ PERL PHP4 ]
done
helpdesk:~ # rcapache status
Checking for httpd:
dead


I have Suse 9.0. I can't have apache2 as this is not compatible with
some software we're using..

Any ideas??
