Phase 1 appears to be complete on `master`. Column stats and partition stats are now enabled by default for the Spark engine:
- `HoodieMetadataConfig#getDefaultColStatsEnable` returns `true` for Spark (Flink/Java remain `false`, see HUDI-8814).
- `isPartitionStatsIndexEnabled()` reads `ENABLE_METADATA_INDEX_COLUMN_STATS`, so partition stats follow the column-stats default.
- The old `hoodie.metadata.index.partition.stats.enable` key is marked `@Deprecated`.
Merged via [HUDI-8680 / #12707](https://github.com/apache/hudi/pull/12707) (commit `474942304ca6`) and the doc follow-up [#13214](https://github.com/apache/hudi/pull/13214). Safe to close this issue if it was tracking only Phase 1; Phase 2 work continues under HUDI-9100.
