Review comment:
       wouldn't `CompletableFuture.allOf` satisfy your requirement here - https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/api/java/util/concurrent/CompletableFuture.html#allOf-java.util.concurrent.CompletableFuture...- ?
   Or is it too invasive change to replace `Future` with `CompletableFuture`?
