NEXUS Release Candidate
Hello,
I have cut a release candidate for version 1.0.0 for the following SDAP
projects:
https://github.com/apache/incubator-sdap-nexus/releases/tag/v1.0.0-rc1
https://github.com/apache/incubator-sdap-ningesterpy/releases/tag/v1.0.0-rc1
https://github.com/apache/incubator-sdap-ningester/releases/tag/v1.0.0-rc1
https://github.com/apache/incubator-sdap-nexusproto/releases/tag/v1.0.0-rc1
This includes the following docker images on dockerhub in the sdap
organization (https://cloud.docker.com/u/sdap/repository/list):
- sdap/cassandra:1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/solr:1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/solr-singlenode:1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/solr-cloud:1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/solr-cloud-init:1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/spark-mesos-base:1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/spark-mesos-master:1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/spark-mesos-agent:1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/nexus-webapp:mesos.1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/nexus-webapp:standalone.1.0.0-rc1
- sdap/ningester:1.0.0-rc1
While I believe we are still short of some of the Apache requirements
needed for a release, this release candidate is functional and is targeted
for deployment to test infrastructure.
Documentation (which is admittedly still sparse) can be found here:
https://incubator-sdap-nexus.readthedocs.io/en/v1.0.0-rc1/
Thanks,
Frank

The release candidates marked as "Pre-Release" have been removed from
GitHub.
The docker images will take a little longer as they are part of our
development workflow but I have begun the process of removing them. They
will be gone within a week.

Hi Frank,
Can you please roll this release candidate back? We have some work to do in order for this to be considered an official Apache release. We need to address these issues before we as a community VOTE and then we need to push the RC up to the Incubator PMC where we will most likely run into other issues as well.
Excellent job on getting the codebase to a stage where it is ready to roll an RC... the next step may prove to be painful but the mentor team and I will help move things along.
I'll start a thread on dev@ to detail what the steps are for rolling the RC.
Thanks

Hi Justin,
I'll help with removing the various RC's and providing guidance on compliance with ASF release policy.

Hi,
The PPMC must not distribute unreleased code to the general public, this includes release candidates. From the ASF release policy:
"Projects MUST direct outsiders towards official releases rather than raw source repositories, nightly builds, snapshots, release candidates, or any other similar packages."
This include making them available on GitHub [1] and Docker [2]. Please remove these releases. The main issue here is that there is no indication that these are not official releases and the general public could download them thinking that they were.
Thanks,
Justin
