If you would like to submit patches for this, that would be great.   
Just add them to bugzilla issues.   For part 1, it seems like we  
should have different Authentication types..   The standard one and  
the TLS one.  Then, you just configure your Authentication object and  
pass it in..

At any rate, I look forward to your patches and comments!
